Maurice "Mo" White, President
Retired from the Douglas County School District after 27 years of service. After Maurice retired he served as a department manager for various businesses. Maurice has been active in local non-profit organizations, including Carson City Pop Warner, Carson City Youth Sports Association, Ormsby Sportsman’s Association, Veterans Guest House Endowment Fund, and Carson City Airport Authority.

Didi Cheney, Secretary
Didi is a local businesswoman who has owned Valley Staffing Solutions for over 20 years. She is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Boston University and the Sorbonne in Paris. In addition to her commitment as Secretary for the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society, she volunteers as Recording Secretary for Soroptimist International of Carson City and as President of Preceptor Alpha Epsilon.

LeRoy (Lee) Perks, Special Projects
Lee is owner and operator of L.A. Perks Petroleum Specialists, Construction and Fuel Services. This family business was established in 1974 with 2 employees specializing in plumbing and heating; today it is a company with 50 employees specializing in mechanical systems with a strong emphasis on petroleum products. Lee has extensive experience working with, and serving non-profits and professional organizations.

Glen Whorton, Historian
Glen Whorton Worked for Nevada's prison system for 32 years.  He started at the Nevada State Prison as a Trainee Officer, and retired as the Director of the Department of Corrections.  He is a graduate of the University of Nevada & has a Masters degree from the University of South Carolina.  His undergraduate degree is in history which explains his role as our historian.  He has also worked as a parole hearing officer, college instructor, legal ombudsman, combat helicopter pilot, casino change person, and a bus boy.  NSP is his hobby.

Susan Bernard, Paranormal Operations
Susan is a devout paranormal expert, connected individual, and knowledgeable investigator. She has decades of experience with the paranormal and has been with the board for several years, serving in many roles. She loves the prison and has familial ties to a warden who was appointed in the 1930’s. She is very versed on Nevada and the Nevada State Prison History, and imparts her wisdom and knowledge on everyone who she encounters during the paranormal tours, ghost walks, and booked investigations.

Chris Pitzer, Communications
Chris has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Chris is dedicated to the paranormal operations, maintenance, and any other projects the prison needs. Chris also assists with communication and website management. Chris’s great grandfather was Governor Fred Balzar, the 15th Governor of the State of Nevada. Balzar was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 1905, and then to the Governor’s Office in 1926 after serving as a Nevada sheriff. Balzar legalized gambling in Nevada, paved the way for a six week divorce proceeding, and very importantly, led the way toward the completion of Hoover dam. Balzar was dear friends with Matthew Penrose, the warden of the Nevada State Prison from 1925 to 1935.

Joe Kinsley, Maintenance
Joe is a retired Correctional Officer of Nevada Department of Corrections. He started as a Correctional Officer at N.S.P. in 1985 and served as an officer with N.D.O.C. for 30 years. Joe oversees the Prison grounds and upkeep of the historic buildings, "Which is no small task". Joe also provides good story telling of past incidents that have occurred at N.S.P. He is a tour guide for special events and our very popular Ghost walks. He also assists with our very successful Paranormal programming. 

Brian Hutchins, Legal Counsel
Brian is retired from the Nevada Attorney General’s Office after 27 years of service. The last 15 years were as Chief Deputy and Chief Counsel to the Nevada Department of Transportation. Brian was previously Chief Deputy for the Criminal Justice Division and Counsel to the Nevada Department of Prisons. He is presently an attorney and consultant in private practice since 2005, working in such areas as real property and land use, mining and environmental, government relations, and construction and business planning. He has extensive experience working with nonprofits.
