In April 2016, public access to the prison was suspended by state officials until such time as an application for change in use is submitted and a new occupancy permit is issued. We reached an important milestone this week when the agreement between the Department of Corrections and the Society was amended to allow the Society to engage the services of the architect and engineer who will now begin the code analysis. Here’s a copy of the report prepared by the Nevada State Prison Steering Committee in September 2014 on the future of the prison. It was created in advance of the 2015 session of the Nevada Legislature in accordance with Assembly Bill 356, which was adopted in the 2013 session.
